Car Requirement
Car manufactured in year 2012 and above with 4 doors, or vehicles below 15 years old based on the registration date stated in your JPJ Grant.
Registration Cities
Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Kedah, Perlis, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Kuala Terengganu and Pulau Pinang.
Handphone Requirement
Android 4.1 or IOS 10.0 Smartphones.
Malaysian Citizen
Malaysian Citizen aged 21–70 years old with a valid Driving License Class D or DA. Probationary (P) driving license is NOT accepted for Grab Driver registration.
You may register as a Grab Driver if you meet the following requirements:
• Malaysian Citizen below 70 years old (Blue MyKad only)
• Valid Full Malaysian Driving License Class D / DA
• Probationary (P) License is NOT accepted
• Must use a personal bank account registered under your own NRIC
• Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and basic English
• Vehicle must not be listed under the rejected GrabCar vehicle list
• Must not have any medical condition that may affect driving capability
Clean background check required:
• No criminal record
• Not more than 3 traffic summons within the recent one year including speeding, dangerous driving, hit-and-run and related offences
Reimbursement Program
Eligible new Grab drivers may enjoy various reimbursement and subsidy programmes provided by Grab to help reduce the overall cost of becoming an e-hailing driver.
The reimbursement programme may include:
• FREE PSV Course with Grab
New applicants who attend PSV courses organised by Grab may be eligible for 100% reimbursement after successful account activation. Selected classes may also include complimentary refreshments or meals.
• Non-Panel PSV Course Reimbursement
Applicants who complete their PSV course at non-Grab panel driving institutes may claim reimbursement of up to RM100 subject to Grab’s latest policy and approval.
• JPJL8A Medical Check-Up Claim
Drivers may claim reimbursement for mandatory JPJL8A medical examination fees, usually up to RM80 depending on the clinic and supporting receipt provided.
• PSV Card Processing Fee
Grab may reimburse the official JPJ PSV card processing fee, commonly around RM20.
• EVP (E-Hailing Vehicle Permit) Subsidy
The EVP fee worth RM115 may be fully covered by Grab for eligible new drivers after successful application and activation.
• Online Registration Support
Grab registration admin may assist applicants throughout the registration process including PSV guidance, document verification, EVP application and activation support.
All reimbursements, subsidies and claims are subject to Grab’s latest terms & conditions, campaign availability, activation requirements and supporting document verification.

Most new applicants are able to complete the process smoothly without needing complicated procedures or multiple visits to Grab Hub.
Yes. GrabCar drivers are allowed to drive using vehicles that are not under their own ownership, making it easier for new drivers to start driving with family-owned or shared vehicles.
Requirements:
• Vehicle must be owned by a living Malaysian citizen
• The registered GrabCar driver’s name must be stated in the insurance cover note, OR
• Insurance cover note must be under ALL DRIVER / ANY AUTHORISED DRIVER / AUTHORISED DRIVER coverage
This allows eligible drivers to register without necessarily owning a personal vehicle, subject to document verification and approval.
If you have previously driven for GrabCar, GrabFood, GrabBike, GrabExpress or GrabTaxi before, you DO NOT need to register again.
Your previous account may still be recoverable through reactivation or appeal process.
Simply contact Existing Driver Support at 1300-80-6688 for account appeal, reactivation assistance or further guidance regarding your existing Grab Driver account.
Due to current EVP (E-Hailing Vehicle Permit) processing limitations, we are currently only able to process GrabCar applications using personal/private vehicles registered under individual ownership.
